Celebrate the 134 th anniversary of the largest country in the world by running a small portion of it.

The fourth annual Pemberton "Spud Valley" Run takes place on July 1, kicking off local Canada Day celebrations.

The casual race is seven kilometres long, starting and finishing at the Pemberton Community Centre. Registration opens 8 a.m., and the race starts half an hour later. The cost is $13, and all proceeds are being donated to the Spud Valley Runners, a group of cross-country runners from Signal Hill Elementary School coached by Delores Los.

Local businesses are providing food, drink and prizes for the run, which is expected to attract between 70 and 100 people. Previous races have attracted visitors from all over B.C. and as far away as Germany and California.
