PEMBERTON & DISTRICT HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT.

The health care foundation’s sixth annual charity golf tournament goes July 6 at noon at the Pemberton Valley Golf and Country Club. Sponsored by Cardinal Concrete, this is the foundation’s only fund-raiser of the year. The foundation provides grants to the Pemberton Health Centre for equipment, renovations, educational scholarships and health care programs not funded by tax dollars. ART ON THE LAKE.

The second in a once-a-month series of days showcasing local artists at the Whistler Outdoor Experience grounds near the Edgewater Lodge. July 8 the featured artist is Natural Furniture builder Jo Collins. Drop by between 1 and 5 p.m.

STAYING SAFE IN BEAR COUNTRY.

The premier showing of this video, a behavioral-based approach to reducing risk, is July 11 at Millennium Place. Learn the difference between backcountry and front country encounters. First in a series of bi-monthly Bear Smart presentations at Millennium Place by the J.J. Whistler Bear Society. On July 25 the presentation is on non-lethal bear management, the alternative to destroying "problem" bears. For information call Sylvia at 905-4209.

VBS DAY CAMP FOR KIDS.

PEMBERTON COWBOY FESTIVAL AND BARN DANCE.

From July 27 to 29 the Pemberton Stables will become home to cowboy poets, musicians, yodellers, storytellers and artisans. Cowboy poet Mike Puhallo of Kamloops and the annual chamber of commerce Barn Dance. Call 894-6984 for information.

HELPING HANDS

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP —

is planning a series of volunteer action days this summer to restore and enhance fish habitat around the Whistler Valley. Volunteers donate a few hours of their time and learn much about Whistler’s aquatic ecosystem and the animals that depend on them. INTRODUCTION TO NORTHWEST COAST NATIVE ART.

WAG is now a registered charitable organization and can issue tax receipts for gifts and donations made.

Now open at Maurice Young Millennium Place. Activities include ping pong, pool table, Playstation, Nintendo, Internet access, big screen projection TV, day and overnight trips and tons of other activities. The Whistler Public Library wants used paperbacks for its huge book sale on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the IGA in Marketplace. Bring your books to the library, 4329 Main Street, before the sale or directly to the sale table on Aug. 4.
