HOPS AND CROPS/WHISTLER FARMERS’ MARKET.

Micro-breweries join the weekly farmers’ market this weekend, Aug 4-5, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Upper Village, between the Chateau Whistler and Glacier Lodge.

LIBRARY BOOK SALE.

The Whistler Public Library is selling used paperbacks Saturday, Aug. 4 at the IGA in Marketpalce.

SQUAMISH DAYS/LOGGER SPORTS.

The annual festival and demonstration of logging skills takes place Aug. 5 at Brennan Park in Squamish.

GRAND OPENING PLAY STRUCTURE.

The Eric Scragg play structure has been donated by the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and moved to the lot behind Marketplace. Grand opening of the facility is Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. Face painting, balloons, and a magic show are part of the festivities.

STAYING SAFE IN BEAR COUNTRY.

Develop a better understanding of bears and bear behaviour, so bears and people can coexist. WRITERS’ GROUP.

SUMMER READING CLUB.

The Whistler Public Library’s Summer Reading Club is held on Wednesdays from July 11 to Aug. 15. There is a session for preschoolers from 11 a.m. to noon and two sessions for 5-9 year olds: from 4 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. There will be stories, songs, crafts and a costume party to wind up the club. HELPING HANDS

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP —

is planning a series of volunteer action days this summer to restore and enhance fish habitat around the Whistler Valley. Volunteers donate a few hours of their time and learn much about Whistler’s aquatic ecosystem and the animals that depend on them. This is a great chance to participate in the conservation of Whistler’s natural environment. For more information call Lisa or Veronica at 935-8323.

WAG is now a registered charitable organization and can issue tax receipts for gifts and donations made.

MY YOUTH CENTRE.

Now open at Maurice Young Millennium Place. Activities include ping pong, pool table, Playstation, Nintendo, Internet access, big screen projection TV, day and overnight trips and tons of other activities. Needed are donations of videos, games, Playstation and Nintendo games and any other "cool" stuff. For hours of operation call 935-8410.
