WHAT: 12 th Annual Whistler Jazz and Blues Festival

WHEN: Sept. 14-19

Jazz, soul and gospel artists will be filling the mountain air with their sweet sounds as the 12 th Annual Jazz and Blues Festival makes its way into the streets of Whistler Sept. 14-16.

Juno Award winner, Metalwood, tops the roster. The funky quartet fuses Miles Davis-style jazz with new age technology, making for a highly original sound. Opening the Saturday night show in the conference centre Underground will be Montreal’s Bullfrog, featuring the world renowned turntable talents of Kid Koala. Bullfrog’s acid jazz shows always sell out in Whistler so be sure to get tickets early.

Six bands spanning a variety of styles will play outdoors at various locations around the village. Listen for the funky grooves and Afro-Cuban rhythms of Spacious Couch, the cool and sultry jazz of the Megan Fanning Trio, the upbeat modern blues of the Grooves Brothers, the passionate gospel sounds of Circle of Voices and the urban lounge blues of Les is More. The 35-member South Fraser Community Band also returns this year playing concert band classics.
