BOB PARSONS MEMORIAL SKIERS GOLF TOURNAMENT

CHEAKAMUS CHALLENGE 2001: A BIKE ODYSSEY

. The 19 th annual Brackendale-Whistler mountain bike race goes Sept. 22. Free kids cycling clinics with some of the best riders in the world are Sept. 23 at the Mountain Bike Zone on Whistler Mountain.

PEMBERTON FALL FAIR

. North Arm Farm, at 1888 Highway 99 in Pemberton, is host to a traditional fall fair with music, pie eating contests, wagon rides, a craft market, sack races and more Saturday, Sept. 22, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. A lamb barbecue will be part of the fair and there will be contests for biggest pumpkin, best jam and other food competitions.

PEMBERTON FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE

. No age restrictions; all fathers and their daughters are welcome. Dance is Sept. 22, 6 p.m. at Signal Hill elementary school. Presented by Signal Hill Parents Advisory Council, tickets are $20 per father-daughter couple, available from Paper Works and Mystery Closet.

FASHION SHOW FUND-RAISER FOR RED CROSS

. Durlacher Hof, in partnership with Optionelle Clothing of Canada, will host a fashion show fund-raiser for the Canadian Red Cross Sunday, Sept. 23, 11 a.m. at 7055 Nesters Road. Proceeds from clothing sales will assist the Red Cross in their efforts to help victims and families in the United States.

WHISTLER FISHTIVAL.

The municipality, B.C. Forest Service, Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group, Rotary Club and Angling Club of Whistler are combining B.C. Rivers Day with Arbor Day on Sept. 29 and 30. From 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 29 volunteers are invited to gather at River of Golden Dreams and Lorimer Road to help the trees and fish. On Sept. 30 at the Whistler Outdoor Experience Company at Edgewater there will be a canoe scavenger hunt, barbecue and open house introducing the river of Golden Dreams Watershed Management Plan, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS DUCK RACE

. Thanksgiving Day, Monday, Oct. 8. The annual fund-raiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Whistler and Pemberton takes place on Fitzsimmons Creek. All funds go to support the agency’s programs and matches. Tickets are for sale every weekend on the Fitzsimmons Creek bridge, and during regular business hours from Windermere Sea to Sky Realty, the North Shore Credit Union and Scotiabank in Pemberton.
