Prime Minister Jean Chretien announced the federal government’s support for the Vancouver Whistler 2010 Winter Olympic bid this week.
The announcement came during Chretien’s visit to Vancouver to attend a Liberal fundraising dinner.
"Certainly having the federal government’s support is important to any bid," said Sam Corea manager of media relations for the bid corporation.
"It shows that we are Canada’s bid. We are going to be the international bid put forward on behalf of all of Canada."
Funding discussions are continuing said Corea and this announcement will only help.
"This completes the picture," said Corea. "Now we can go forward as Canada’s bid so we are in a good spot."
