Mountain film festival comes to Squamish

The Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival presents the Best of the Fest at the Howe Sound Inn in Squamish Nov. 16 and 17, with sneak previews from the upcoming fifth annual festival and some of the best of the fourth annual festival.

Friday’s program, beginning at 8:30 p.m. with four films. Mount Waddington, Whitemantle, Bute Inlet , is a documentary about ski touring and kayaking narrated live by Dave Sarkany, Joan Patterson and others. Dirt Divas is an all-women biking film directed by Anne Walton. A Higher Calling is a documentary about US paragliding pilots crossing western Nepal. The Black, is a short on base jumping.

Tommorrow’s line up includes a slide show on Remote Wall Climbing in Nepal by Whistler’s Rich Prohaska.

Robert Fulton’s Pilot Notes-The Journals of a Solitary Aviator and a sneak preview of films from the fifth annual festival are also on the schedule for Saturday.

Tickets are $8 in advance at the Brew Pub or $10 at the door.
