Bolt down the folding chairs, people, because wrestling is coming to Pemberton.

The National Wrestling Alliance and Extremely Canadian Championship Wrestling are holding five matches plus a Battle Royale at the Pemberton Youth Centre on Dec. 8. It even has a catchy Christmas theme – Season’s Beatings.

The headliner is the "Grudge Match" between Scotty Mac, one half of the league’s newly crowned Tag Team Champions, and "Gorgeous" Michelle Starr, a former tag team and heavyweight champion.

Not to start any rumours, but according to Private Todd Kelly the previous tag team champion, the tag team win by Scotty Mac and partner Havoc, was tainted.

"First of all I’d like to say that it was (ECCW) Commissioner Rocky Della Serra that beat us, we already won the match. It wasn’t two out of three falls, in was pinfall, submission or first to leave. I’ve been hit with some pretty big moves but let me tell you this – the bomb from over the top of the cage was the worst!"

The next match on the bill is called High Flyin’ Action, and features pro-wrestling pretty boy Ladies Choice taking on Dave "The Rave" Swift, a newcomer to the league from Calgary. The Rave is hungry, but Ladies Choice is looking for a title, according to his latest letter to the fans: "Everybody knows that I am the sexiest man in professional wrestling, but what they don’t know is that I am also one of the toughest… Look for big things from The Man With The Plan And The Golden Tan in the next few months. I have already proven that I am a ladies man, now I will prove that I am the Greatest ECCW Champion of all time!"

There’s also a women’s match between Madison, a newcomer to wrestling and veteran Bam Bam Bambi; a Young Lions Match between Average Joe and Sweet Daddy Devastation; and a Matter of Respect Match between Aaron Idol and high flyer Backyard Billy.

There will also be a Battle Royale with all the wrestlers, where the last man, woman, or man dressed up as a woman standing at the end of the match takes all.

You can pick up tickets in Pemberton at the Pemberton Community Centre and the Pemberton Valley Supermarket, in Mount Currie at Frontier Grocery or the Lil’Wat Gas Station, or in Whistler at Tapley’s Neighbourhood Pub or Splitz Grill. It’s $12 for ringside seats, and $10 for general admission. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Pemberton Youth Centre.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the action gets underway at 7:30.
