Last week the Ministry of Sustainable Resources announced that the provincial government was putting $100,000 on the table for a comprehensive study of ecotourism, or nature-based tourism, in B.C.

According to Minister Stan Hagen, "There’s a lot of new interest in the lands of British Columbia, like the Crown lands, and there’s a lot of competing interests, so I think we have to get a handle on what all of those competing interests are so we can include that information in our land use planning."

The study will look at the B.C.’s competitive position in the world market as an ecotourism and adventure travel destination.
