Ten Whistler restaurants will be participating in this year’s Dining Out For Life fund-raising event, which takes place next Thursday, March 12. The 10 local restaurants participating — Araxi Ristorante, The Bear Foot Bistro, Black’s Restaurant, Christine’s on Blackcomb, Fogata, Garibaldi Lift Company Bar and Grill, Monk’s Grill, Plaza Bistro, Portobello at the Chateau Whistler and Quattro at Pinnacle — is up from just one Whistler participant — Garibaldi Lift Company — last year. The 10 Whistler restaurants join more than 110 restaurants in the Lower Mainland which will be donating 25 per cent of their food revenue on March 12 to two AIDS-related registered charities, Friends for Life and A Loving Spoonful. Dining Out For Life has been taking place in major cities across Canada and the United States for several years. The 10 Whistler restaurants participating this year represent a range of dining styles and price ranges, which should allow everyone an opportunity to participate in Dining Out For Life. The Concierge Association of B.C., Les Clef D’or, is a supporter of Dining Out For Life, having recruited many of the restaurants and organized promotions. One local concierge will be hosting at each of the Whistler restaurants on March 12. "When I hosted at the GLC last year I found that people were thrilled to learn that 25 per cent of their food tab would be donated to charity, without them having to do anything but enjoy dinner," says Gordon Dyson, Chef Concierge at the Chateau Whistler Resort. "Many people ordered appetizers or dessert when they probably would not have. Some even ordered pizza to take home and eat as leftovers, just to increase the amount donated." The Concierge Association is asking anyone who is dining out next week to consider doing it on March 12 at one of the above restaurants.
