Whistler "virtually" rules Whistler is No. 1 when it comes to virtual reality games, says Mountain World's Glenn Fawcett, announcing the addition of two more games. The entertainment dynamo under the Whistler Conference Centre now has 13 "VR" games, more than any place in Canada, including Toronto's CN Tower, the Edmonton Mall, or SegaCity in Mister-and-Missus-Sauga, Ont. The latest entries are two Buggy Ball pods where — seated and helmeted — the gamester tries to bumper car a huge beach ball into an opponent's goal. As with other games, you can play against your buddy in the second pod, or against unknown forces. Computer-generated noises and visuals add to the fun. Another recent addition to Mountain World's VR family is a virtual Pacman game that takes the popular 1970s video game to a new dimension by making you the "man" who has to "pac" as many spots as possible before the ghosts get you. "Certainly no other ski resort has this many VR games," Fawcett says. VR world dominance is next.
