The B.C. Rehab Foundation will be the beneficiary of the second annual Backbone Enduro, April 4 on Whistler Mountain. Last year 200 skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities raised $50,000 for the B.C. Rehab Foundation through pledges for vertical feet skied in 8 hours. This year’s Backbone Enduro is open to teams of 4-6, with each team member requiring a minimum pledge of $250. In exchange participants ski or ride all day for free — with lift-line privileges. The day includes De Dutch Pannekoeks, massages, an awards reception and dinner and T-shirts for the $250 minimum pledge entry. There are also plenty of draw prizes, including a safari for two in Kenya, with a side trip to Zanzibar, and a cruise to the Caribbean. Skiing and riding takes place on any runs serviced by Whistler Mountain’s Creekside Gondola and Big Red chair. If there is enough snow the Lower Dave Murray Downhill run may be closed off for those participants who want to go fast. Former national team downhiller Chris Kent hosts the event. Each team will be partnered with a celebrity. To register call the B.C. Rehab Foundation at (604) 737-6383 or fax (604) 737-6494.
