New corporal joins Whistler RCMP A 25-year veteran of the force has signed on as the newest officer with the Whistler RCMP detachment. Cpl. Mike Shannon will be taking over the posting left vacant by Cpl. Darryl Little, who recently took a new posting in Kelowna. Shannon comes to Whistler after 25 years with the RCMP in Vancouver, including recent work as an undercover investigator with the city's homicide unit. Shannon said he looks forward to the opportunity to serve in a smaller community, and said he won't miss the increasingly grim crime problems he's been dealing with in the big city. Little and Shannon served together in North Vancouver in the mid-70s, and Shannon said he realizes he has some big shoes to fill.
