Rogue vows to run again The Rogue Wolf’s closing is temporary, according to general manager Stacey Myrah, and the intent is to re-open the nightclub. The Rogue Wolf has been closed since bailiffs seized $150,000 worth of assets Aug. 23. A Ministry of Finance spokesperson told Pique Newsmagazine last week the province’s consumer taxation branch had been "bending over backwards" in an attempt to retrieve liquor taxes owed by the nightclub, but had been unsuccessful. Myrah said this week the Rogue Wolf did owe the province $13,000 in provincial sales tax and the two sides had agreed on a payment plan. However, when a $2,000 payment was missed bailiffs moved in to seize assets. "They were not open to any offer of partial payment of the debt," Myrah said. The Rogue Wolf’s provincial sales tax number was also revoked, which meant the club was no longer allowed to sell alcohol. As a result of these moves Liquor Control and Licencing placed the business’s licence under "administrative suspension." Club owners are required to attend a hearing regarding the status of their licence, but no date has been set for the hearing. Myrah said this week the club’s owners, managers and lawyers are actively working on a solution to the problems and expect a resolution within the next week or two. As to allegations the Rogue Wolf had been operating as an after-hours nightclub, serving liquor to minors and offering drink specials, Myrah said: "In the 14 months I’ve been employed here we’ve had one infraction, approximately four or five months ago." That incident involved a minor in the club, Myrah said. "That’s the only infraction we’ve been notified of." A Liquor Control and Licencing representative told Myrah there were "numerous allegations" against the club, but he said the Rogue Wolf hasn’t received any other notices or warnings. Myrah said locals and staff have been "extremely supportive" of the club during the current turmoil.
