Workers Cup VII Whistler’s workers will be racing for each other April 25 on Whistler Mountain. Workers Cup VII, a fun race to benefit the Whistler Workers Cup Society, takes place at 1 p.m. on the Orange Chair. Net proceeds from the event go to a fund which is used to support Whistler workers or their families in times of emergency. The fund is not a replacement for unemployment insurance or Workers Compensation, but to assist people in a situation where their needs are beyond their means. Originally a race for the trades people of the valley, the Workers Cup has developed into a fun race open to all. The race course starts with three trades-related obstacles, followed by an open giant slalom. Each section is timed separately. Awards will be presented for the top man, woman and team at the evening banquet at Buffalo Bill’s, which includes a full buffet, draw prizes, an auction and trophy presentation. Tickets are $40 per person or $160 per team. They are available form Buffalo Bill’s, Bob Brant or Joanne Den Duyf. Anyone who buys their tickets before April 22 will qualify for a special lift ticket price. For more information call Brant at 932-5131 or Den Duyf at 932-4117.
