Yet another theme week has hit Whistler. This coming week, Feb. 15-23, is Heritage Week. The Whistler Museum will be celebrating Heritage Week with a series of events, including a special presentation by the founder and first President of the Garibaldi Lift Company, Franz Wilhelmsen on Monday, Feb. 17. Dubbed Heritage Evening, the celebration will include the presentation of an award to the museum’s Volunteer of the Year. Whistler Mountain photographs and artefacts will also be on display and visitors are invited to come dressed in skiwear from the past. Heritage Evening gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. On the 21st of February at 7 p.m, a three-hour course on tracing and recording your family tree, entitled Beginning a Bridge to the Past, will be held. The evening is free but registration is required. And on Saturday Feb. 15 and 22 at 10:30 a.m., a Treasure Box workshop for children will be offered. As part of Vision Awareness Week the Whistler Eye Clinic is holding a seminar on how the latest technology affects vision and eye care, in particular laser eye surgery. "There’s a great deal of excitement over the surgery, but people need to remember that there are definite benefits, but definite risks as well," said Dr. Karen Smith of the Whistler Eye Clinic. Whistler Mountain Ski Corporation’s David Perry will be speaking on the World Ski and Snowboard Festival and integrating the business community at this month’s chamber of commerce luncheon. The Whistler Chamber of Commerce luncheon will be at the Bear Foot Bistro Feb. 19 at 11:45 a.m. Lunch is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Call 932-5922 to reserve a seat.
