Women Entrepreneurs of Canada Women Entrepreneurs of Canada has announced the formation of a British Columbia chapter, and is encouraging women entrepreneurs and anyone interested in the association to attend their launch. Featured at the Feb. 26 launch will be a number of speakers, including Judith Bradt, Director of Government Markets for the Embassy of Canada in Washington, D.C., and Janet Wood, Western Manager for Software & Network Computing for IBM. "The Women Entrepreneurs of Canada is an excellent opportunity to share experiences and learn from others about your most important asset — your business," says Sandra Miles, president of the newly-formed British Columbia chapter. Miles’ father David Miles manages the Blackcomb Lodge and Mountainside Lodge in Whistler. Kathy Barnett, publisher of Pique Newsmagazine, is also a member of the board of directors. The WEC is part of a world-wide organization, Les Femmes chefs d’Entreprises Mondiales, which was founded in France in 1946. The WEC's goals are to bring together women entrepreneurs, encouraging and fostering exchange, communication, and trade within Canada and internationally. The association also makes representations to government and provides advocacy and support for Canadian women entrepreneurs. The launch date for the new chapter of WEC is Feb. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Wall Centre in the Penthouse, 1088 Burrard Street Vancouver, B.C.
