Get some Power, girl Businesswoman day of workshops aims to excite, relax The Western Businesswomen’s Association wants to give the working woman some Girl Power in a day of workshops and stress-free fun, Wednesday, Dec. 3. The day combines a choice of four sessions, a chance to do the all-important networking thing with fellow Whistler businesswomen, a little Zen and computers, and some refreshing stress tests and relaxing techniques. The event takes place at the Chateau Whistler and is organized in conjunction with the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, and co-sponsored by the Community Futures Development Corporation of Howe Sound, the Chateau Whistler, North Shore Credit Union, Royal Bank of Canada and Race & Company. Of the sessions, Wendy Mah answers your human resources questions in a round table discussion. Mah is a local specialist available for consulting on recruitment training, compensation, benefit and occupational health and safety issues. Gordon Wiber is a CA who'll discuss business structures and tax minimization strategies, taxation of the virtual office and employee vs. sub-contractor relationships. Wiber has 10 years experience in advising owner-managers of small business and is deep into a post-graduate course on taxation. Katy McIntosh will pack all kinds of useful information about business plans and business financing into her workshop. McIntosh is a business counsellor with the Community Futures Development Corporation of Howe Sound where she assists entrepreneurs in developing business plans, research strategies, cash flow, budgeting and arranging financing. Ann Ward of Ward & Associates Sales Consultants has the fourth workshop, helping participants get the most for their marketing dollars in a competitive marketplace. Ward has been helping businesses increase sales in a variety of capacities for the past three years in Whistler, specializing in sales and marketing training and Internet advertising. The lunch time speaker will be Kendra Mazzei who will explore Zen and the art of computer stuff. Mazzei is with Whistler's Burntstew Computer Solutions. She is out to provide high quality service and support to end users, customized training modules, and other on-site consulting. Diana Sillery will bring balance into your life with proven techniques and strategies to successfully manage stress during the post-lunch seminar. Sillery comes from Kokopelli Consulting, delivering health and wellness seminars for 10 years in both Vancouver and Whistler to corporations and the public. If you hurry, you can register for Girl Power for $49 (plus GST), but it'll be $59 after Nov. 17.
