Kayakers will be heard

Kayakers are determined that they will not be left upstream without paddles when it comes to issues effecting B.C. waterways.

Kayakers are determined that they will not be left upstream without paddles when it comes to issues effecting B.C. waterways.

The Whitewater Kayaking Association of British Columbia (WKABC) has just formed a Rivers Impact Committee to co-ordinate information and input from the paddling community, especially as it pertains to hydro-electric developments on local creeks and rivers.

The committee will be pivotal in creating one uniform voice, which will present the kayakers' plight to the government, proponents, regulators and other parties.

WKABC is looking specifically at current projects on Rutherford Creek, Brandywine Creek and Kwoiek Creek.
