The Freestyle Ski World Cup is returning to Whistler at the end of January, and organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the staging of two days of aerial and dual moguls competitions.

This is the last Freestyle World Cup before the Olympic Winter Games, and the final opportunity for the athletes to fine tune their performances in a judged format.

Volunteers are needed to help with all aspects of the event, from ground crew at the competition sites to liaisons with VIPs, sponsors and the media. Two volunteer recruitment nights are being held at Merlin’s, on Dec. 20 and Jan. 6, starting at 7 p.m.

"We really look after our volunteers well and people come back year after year to enjoy the atmosphere at the freestyle events," says Peter Kerr, Chief of Volunteers. "In return for volunteering you can earn free lift tickets, clothing, and enjoy a great volee party at the end of the event. It’s also a good way to meet people and see how a major international competition works behind the scenes."

Volunteers are needed from Jan. 14 to 27. They will receive free breakfasts and lunch, as well as an apres ski beer garden. On-hill volunteers have to be 19 or older, and should be at least intermediate skiers or riders.

If you can’t attend either recruitment night, you can contact the volunteer hotline at 604-938-7574 or [email protected] for more information.
