With influences ranging from John Scofield jazz to more revved up electronica, Blue Quarter have found their sound through live performances.
"Were not a jam band, but we do make what we call electro-lounge music through playing live, when theres a good vibe with audiences, like in Whistler. (Drummer) Bitou and I actually met at a jam session at the Rose and Crown pub," he says.
They say one visit to the mountains and youre hooked.
"Bitou was out for a three-week vacation, but we played together and he ended up staying for the last two years. We played The Swimming bar on Rue St. Laurent in Montreal, and now were working on a first album which will include Phat Slacker and Playstation," he adds.
Third member Olivier Lagace is on a Chapman stick, and used to play bass with bands out east.
Their predominantly instrumental sound has been likened to Thomas Dolby, Depeche Mode, and William Orbit. They will bring that sound on tour through Winnipeg, Ontario, and P.E.I. in March 2002.
