The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment, the Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group and the municipal parks department have combined forces to build a wetland viewing platform in the Lost Lake wetland area adjacent to Lost Lake park.

The Lost lake wetland, just north of Lost Lake, is a small wetland area with an open pond located at the site of an old wood mill. The purpose of the platform is to raise awareness of wetland habitat through interpretive signs explaining the area’s history, ecology, hydrology, flora and fauna, as well as the importance of wetlands.

A short boardwalk from the Valley Trail will access the area, minimizing human intrusion into the wetland area.

The work will be conducted by volunteers in August or September, and AWARE and the WFSG will provide the funding through grants and donations from the Community Foundation of Whistler, the Vancouver Foundation, EcoAction, and the Whistler Golf Course.
