Two local freeskiers have "officially" launched an Internet magazine to introduce the world to the sport and entertain the converted.

"I’m stoked to see it growing as quick as it has," said Jamie Bond referring to the new site which can be found at www.doglotion.com .

"This winter the site will take off!"

Bond and fellow skier Andre Charland launched a test site last March. Since then they have had over 500,000 hits.

It claims to be a fresh and entertaining Internet ski magazine which focuses on the "freeskiing scene, the epic adventures of local and international rippers, and, most importantly, the ruckus and tomfoolery at the heart of freeskiing."

To kick off the season, the editorial crew headed south to Las Lenas, Argentina for some epic powder skiing and debauchery, all showcased on the site. Future trips and stories include the B.C. Interior, Washington, Alaska, Chile, Europe, extensive backcountry descents and highlights from the 2003 IFSA Freeskiing World Tour.

Doglotion.com is keen to publish photos, videos, words of wisdom or deceit and anything else that’ll give the freeskiing community a swift kick in the butt.

Local CHBA chapter launched

Whistler now has its own chapter of the Canadian Home Builder’s Association.

Started last month, the association aims to raise the profile of the local construction industry and public awareness of the economic and financial contributions it makes up and down the corridor.

It will also work to share information about, and bring attention to, issues particular to the local market and to speak with a common voice at a municipal level.

Securing access to education and training resources, marketing resources and other industry professionals will also be focused on, as will lobbying government representation for national and provincial issues.

CHBA-Whistler is a professional organization comprising architects, builders, engineers, subtrades, and suppliers.

The next lunch meeting will be on Dec. 11, 2002. For queries, contact chbawhistler@whooshnet.com or call Rod Nadeau, President of CHBA-Whistler, at 604-932-8645.
