If you’ve just arrived in town with a meagre backpack of goods to your name, you’re in luck.
There’s a giant charity rummage sale at Myrtle Philip School on Sunday with goods galore, including as good as new duck down duvets, linen and pillows donated by the Cascade Lodge.
Other bargains include clothes, ski and snowboard gear and general household items, excluding large furniture.
The money raised will go towards running a local charity called Zero Ceiling, specifically Zero Ceiling’s Snowboard Instructor Program.
The program, now in its sixth year, brings street kids from Vancouver to Whistler’s slopes, with the shot of getting a job as a snowboard instructor at Whistler-Blackcomb once qualified.
Twelve teens so far have graduated from the instructors program since Zero Ceiling was founded in December 1997.
"A lot of the guys and girls who have moved up here have turned their lives around," said pro freeskier Chris Winter in an earlier interview with Pique Newsmagazine.
Winter founded the program and is pleased with what it has accomplished to date.
"If (the kids) are given the chance then they really get to shine."
Rummage sale donations can be dropped off at #25 - 2230 Eva Lake Road in Nordic leading up to the sale.
The Myrtle Philip School doors open at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 and the sale goes until 5:30 p.m.
