The Whistler Housing Authority was among the list of developers in town that scooped up awards at the annual Georgies this year.
The awards, which are handed out by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of B.C., were given out for excellence in a variety of categories.
The WHA’s Beaver Flats building, built in partnership with Glacier Creek Development, was presented with four silvers and a gold Georgie.
The gold statue recognizes the technical innovations on the exterior of the Beaver Flats building.
Councillor Kristi Wells, who is also chair of the WHA and attended the Vancouver awards ceremony, explained that the exterior of Beaver Flats is covered in a waterproof membrane and then a spray foam. It was seen as an interesting and innovative way of creating insulation.
Other local winners were Munster & Sons Developments. They took home two gold Georgies. One was for the best custom builder in B.C. and the other for the best single family detached home 3,500 square feet and over, for Akasha.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognized for such prestigious awards," said Andy Munster.
"It is such an honour to be chosen as the top custom builder in B.C. and to be recognized for the best single family detached home for our Akasha project."
Vision Pacific also took a handful of silver awards. Kyber Developments and Debbie Evans Interior Design also took home silver Georgies.
Wells said: "It’s a real credit to our building industry in town."
