Three photographers with several things in common have hung their best work on the walls of BBK’s pub, for the Viseye Gallery’s 10th exhibition. The trio of talent is Tyler Garnham, Alain Denis and Kalli Stone, who all happen to work at Coast Mountain Photography and all have a love for the backcountry, hence the theme of this month’s offering.
When asked why the backcountry was their scenery of choice, the answer was unanimously "few distractions."
Garnham summed it up best when he said: "It is much easier to focus on your environment when you’re all alone. You have more control and choice of everything and there are many opportunities and challenges when it comes to the light and how you use it."
Garnham started shooting professionally almost 10 years ago, working in the news media, with a rafting company and in the fashion industry. In between he has travelled to Africa, Central America, New Zealand, Australia, the U.K. and he recently completed a large chunk of B.C., the Yukon, Alaska and Alberta.

Alain Denis has also been with Coast Mountain Photography for several years. He is an avid sportsman who is currently focused on rock and ice climbing.
Kalli Stone is busy building up her portfolio with the vast subject matter afforded by her choice of location and career in Whistler. She has a diploma in photojournalism.
"When people see this work I hope they get a little exited and maybe motivated to get out there and enjoy the outdoors, wherever that may be," said Garnham on behalf of the group.
Saltspring Island art on tour
Anyone familiar with the Blue Horse Folk Art Gallery on Saltspring Island will be excited to hear there’ll be a special exhibition and sale of the artwork by Paul Burke and Anna Gustafson this weekend in Whistler. Signature folk art sculptures, raku and furniture will be on show and on sale at the home of John and Judith Tolmie this Saturday, April 5 from noon to 10 p.m. The address is 2609 Whistler Road.
