In the Pemberton pipeline

Funding for the new sewage treatment plant, which will be built to service a community of 6,000, is coming soon. Any day now Mayor Elinor Warner expects to hear that the federal government and the provincial government will each kick in one-third of the $6.8 million for the plant, with the village making up the remainder.

The grant was supposed to be announced earlier this year but despite the delay in the announcement the mayor remains optimistic that the funding will come through any day now.

Meanwhile a number of projects are on hold, waiting for the green light to proceed.

These include:

• 80 townhomes as part of Pioneer Junction next to the new Petro Canada;

• a hotel is proposed to be a part of a later phase of Pioneer Junction;

• a commercial and residential development next to the Pony Espresso;

• 55 single-family homes in the Pemberton Benchlands;

• 30 townhomes in the Pemberton Plateau;

• 54 new lots in the industrial area

• 82-room Pemberton Valley Lodge

• a proposal for a commercial development with 20 residential units above next to Mountain Building Centre.
