The 12 th annual Whistler Valley Trail Run takes place this Sunday, May 25, and as always the emphasis is on participation. There are both 5 km and 10 km courses, and the race is open to walkers as well as runners.

As well, this year’s race will feature a short, 400 metre Teddy Bear Trot for kids under 10.

If you’ve already registered, your race packages are available at the Nike at Whistler store in the Pan Pacific Lodge. You can also register at the store all day Friday and Saturday, and on the morning of the event starting at 7:30 at the start line.

The race starts in the municipal lots at the end of Village Gate Boulevard, and for the 10 km runners it proceeds along the Valley Trail through Lost Lake Park and around the Whistler Golf Course before finishing up in the village.

The Teddy Bear Trot gets underway well after the Valley Trail Run, with kids running a 400 metre course in the village. Their parents are welcome to come along, and they are encouraged to bring their favourite stuffed animals as well.

The awards for the event will take place at 11 a.m. at the GLC, with lots of draw prizes for the less-competitive runners and walkers.

All proceeds from the race will go towards the Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation, and various children’s charities in the Sea to Sky area.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event, drop by Nike at Whistler or call 604-935-5559.
