The number of visitors entering Canada via B.C. border crossings declined 8.2 per cent in March (seasonally adjusted), the steepest fall seen since September 2001, according to B.C. Stats and Statistics Canada.
This was due to fewer travellers from both the U.S. (— 8.8 per cent) and overseas (— 5.2 per cent). Australia and the South Pacific region showed the most notable decline in overseas visitors to B.C. (— 16.8 per cent) followed by Europe (— 9.7 per cent) and Asia (— 3.4 per cent). March was the third straight month of declining visitor entries.
