W-B takes top honours in 24 Hour Relay

The Whistler-Blackcomb Bullets were the top fundraising team in this year’s 24 Hour Relay for the Kids, collecting a record $58,698 for the BC Easter Seal Society Camping Program. The event took place at 10:00 a.m.

The Whistler-Blackcomb Bullets were the top fundraising team in this year’s 24 Hour Relay for the Kids, collecting a record $58,698 for the BC Easter Seal Society Camping Program.

The event took place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 15 th , with over 4,000 participants on 158 teams running around Central Park in Burnaby for 24 hours straight.

Together the teams raised a total of $1.2 million for the program and logged 21, 000 miles.

The BC Easter Seal Camping Program includes camp Squamish, Camp Shawnigan and Camp Winfield for children with disabilities. The money raised will allow almost 1,000 children to attend the camps for a one-week period this summer, at no cost to their families.

Last year 340 children from the Lower Mainland attended a one-week camp to Camp Squamish, including nine from Squamish and four from the Garibaldi Highlands.

The relay is now is its 24 th year of running and has raised $21, 776, 692.00 since it’s inception.
