Body of Ontario man found in Anderson Lake

At 10 a.m. on July 22, the Pemberton RCMP received a report that a body had been found five kilometres from a boat launch site on the east side of Anderson Lake.

A Squamish man was out fishing when he found the body, and contacted the RCMP immediately.

The Pemberton RCMP conducted an investigation and found the body to be a 49-year-old from Ontario. No foul play is suspected.

The investigation is ongoing and the identify of the male is being withheld until his family can be notified.

Mountain bike thefts reported

Eight mountain bikes were reported stolen last weekend from a resident, from the back of a parked vehicle, and from the inside of a bike trailer in separate incidences. The latest thefts bring the total to 15 stolen bikes over the past two weeks.

Four of the bikes from the previous week were locked up at the time, and had the cable or locks cut.

The Whistler/Pemberton RCMP are reminding cyclists to lock up their bikes at all times, and not to leave bikes unlocked in front of residences and in unlocked vehicles.

For Whistler residents, whose bikes are usually worth more than their cars, that’s good advice.
