A tribute to travellers and their tales

It’s time to develop those rolls of films sitting in the bottom of the backpack and dust off those on-the-road sketches – a MY Place winter art exhibit wants your work.

It’s time to develop those rolls of films sitting in the bottom of the backpack and dust off those on-the-road sketches – a MY Place winter art exhibit wants your work.

MY Place technician and avid traveller, with 39 countries ticked off his travel hit list, Christian Kessner, is organizing an exhibit celebrating the world as our teacher.

"I wanted to put something together that not only reflects the international mix of people here but also the creative and passionate side of global minded travellers," he said.

Through photography, paintings, drawings, collages and even digital imagery, Kessner hopes to borrow the memories of those on the move for a month long display in the upstairs gallery.

"I love talking about travelling, especially in this town where the locals have generally covered a lot of ground. I think this type of an exhibit will attract a lot of like-minded people who want to show where they’ve been and swap the secrets of what to do there," said Kessner.

Submissions should be as professional as possible using returnable originals or good quality laser prints. Digital photos or graphics can be e-mailed or dropped in to MY Place on CD.

A maximum one page summary should accompany all entries, explaining the art and where it represents.

"You could also add in there what you’ve learned about travelling. Perhaps even why you should go or why you shouldn’t go. Any aspects you’ve learned about travel is welcome in the summary," said Kessner.

Another welcome addition is a Top 10 list offering the most magical spots in the world.

The submission deadline is Oct. 1.
