With the province opting to close all Crown land, and the municipality closing some areas as well due to extreme fire hazards, there’s some confusion as to what’s open and what’s closed.

There was a rumour going around town that the Whistler Mountain Bike Park was closed, but according to Whistler-Blackcomb that’s not the case.

"The Mountain bike Park is open," said park manager Tom Prochazka.

The Fitzsimmons Express Chair is not operating, but "we are now uploading riders and bikes on the Whistler Village Gondola. This is because once the kids go back to school, there is not the passenger volume to operate two lifts," he said. The Fitzsimmons Express may operate on weekends through the rest of the season, based on demand.

In addition, Whistler Mountain is still open for sightseeing.

Both the park and the mountain will be open daily until Sunday, Sept. 21, and then on weekends through to Oct. 12.
