The Whistler Fire Rescue Service is hosting an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 5 with events at all three local firehalls.

The event will kick off at the Fire Hall No. 1, at 11 a.m., located in Whistler Village on Village Gate Boulevard.

There will be interactive displays, and the public will be invited to try out equipment like the Thermal Imaging Camera, which detects heat instead of light, hydraulic "Jaws of Life", and fire extinguishers. An information booth will provide information on the Fire Service and fire prevention.

The events at Fire Hall No. 1 will run until the end of Open House at 3 p.m.

The public will also have a chance to see fire fighters in action.

At 11:30 a.m., the firefighters at Fire Hall No. 2 in Alpine will put on an automobile extrication demonstration, simulating a rescue from a vehicle after a collision.

At 12:30 p.m., Fire Hall No. 3 in Whistler Creek will demonstrate a fire attack and patient rescue from a third floor balcony.

At 2:30 p.m., the fire fighters at Hall No. 1 will perform a synchronized fire attack to end the day.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be available, with all proceeds going towards the Muscular Dystrophy Boot Drive, the Whistler Fire Services adopted charity.
