For the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, there are many benefits to having a sponsor like General Motors, including the automotive manufacturers ongoing support of the Pontiac GMC Cup national racing series.
For the second year in a row, the Canadian skiers are also taking advantage of General Motors world class wind tunnel testing facility near Detroit.
The athletes assume the race position in the wind tunnel to test downhill suits, gloves, helmets and goggles in different body positions. At the same time, the amount of drag is calculated and documented to study form and help athletes find the perfect aerodynamic mix of equipment and style.
The members of the national ski team taking part in this years test on Sept. 27 were Francois Bourque, Erik Guay, Vincent Lavoie, Jan Hudec and Brad Spence.
