How low can you go?

Back for a third year, WORCA’s Max Vert Enduro challenges riders to see how many descents of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park they can make in a three-hour period.

Last year’s title went to Rob Cook, who was the first to complete his 12 th lap of the course. During that time he covered more than 4,100 kilometres of vertical over nearly 50 km of trail. An average lap was 16 minutes, including the gondola ride.

Brook Baker took the women’s title with 10 laps of the park.

The course will likely be the same as last year, with sections of Dirt Merchant, Rippin’ Ruttabega, and A-Line.

The Enduro gets underway at 9 a.m. in the morning, with registration from 8 a.m. onwards at the base of Whistler Mountain. The cost is $20 if you have a park pass, and $30 without. All participants must be WORCA members.

The event is open to both juniors and adults, with prizes for all categories.

All proceeds from the race in the past have gone towards trail building in the valley, with last year’s funds going towards the completion of Chris Markle’s epic Comfortably Numb trail.

The Enduro is part of the annual Harvest Huckfest, celebrating the last weekend of the season for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. The other main event is the Whistler premiere of Disorder IV – Ride the Lightning, the fourth in a series of extreme mountain bike movies. For more on Disorder IV, check out the Entertainment section.

The Bike Park will close for the season after Oct. 13.
