Whistler runner Kristina Rody placed second among women, and 22 nd overall out of 1,200 runners, in the Niagara International Half Marathon last week. Her time of one hour, 19 minutes and 21 seconds was a minute and a half off her personal best.

"I was really happy with the race," said Rody. "I ran with the first place female until the last two miles when my shoelace came undone and I had to stop to do it up. We were running a six-minute per mile pace, which felt quite comfortable."

With this latest result under her belt, Rody has set her sights on the Canadian Cross Country Championships at the end of November, where she hopes to qualify for the World Cross-Country Championships in the spring. She also plans to race in the California International Marathon at the beginning of December, and hopes to finish in under 2:45.

Rody ran competitively at the University of Guelph where she was the first athlete to be named All-Canadian in three years. After moving to Whistler earlier this year she started to focus on running longer races.
