Just how far will you go to win a free Whistler-Blackcomb season pass?

Will you go 24 hours without sleep, standing outside in the cold and whatever the weather happens to be? Will you answer trivia questions? Eat something gross? Put your body and stamina to the test?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you might be a good candidate for Whistler-Blackcomb Freeze Factor.

Based loosely on the television show Fear Factor, the chosen candidates will have to stand outside for 24 hours, buckled into their skis or snowboards. During the course of the contest, they’ll be subjected to various tests designed to pare down the number of competitors until the final test.

Some of the events announced include a brain numbing Slurpee eating contest in the cold and bobbing for eyeballs. The competitors will learn of other challenges over the course of the night.

Contestants will receive rewards through the night, and nobody is going to leave empty-handed. In addition, 10-minute washroom breaks will be allowed every four hours, and Freeze Factor participants will be provided with hot beverages and snacks.

The rules are simple – no leaning, no sitting, no sleeping, no music players, no alcohol, no drugs, and no outside support. You will be watched.

Skiers will not be permitted poles, and snowboarders are allowed to have one foot free. You can bring extra food and clothing items in a bag.

Participants must be 19 years or older, with proof of age at registration. Contestants must also sign a waiver and a rules agreement.

Employees of Whistler-Blackcomb and family members are not eligible to enter or win.

The contest gets underway at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21 and concludes on Saturday at 8 a.m. Dates are subject to change.

The winner will receive a season’s pass and the first chair of the year, with a 100-chair gap on the rest of the line, for him- or herself and three friends.

To take part in the Freeze Factor, you can apply online at www.whistler-blackcomb.com/contests/freeze.asp, or by picking up a printed application from Whistler-Blackcomb Guest Relations in the village or the Whistler-Blackcomb administration building at Blackcomb.

Whistler-Blackcomb is also hosting a Kokanee Freeze Factor Party at Merlin’s to cheer on the competitors during their official challenges. There will also be mini-challenges for everyone else with great prizes.
