Whistler teams in 100 km epic

This year more than 338 teams of eight – more than 2,700 runners – took part in the 22 nd annual Haney to Harrison relay. The event also attracted almost 30 ultra runners, who completed the entire 100 km course by themselves.

This year more than 338 teams of eight – more than 2,700 runners – took part in the 22 nd annual Haney to Harrison relay. The event also attracted almost 30 ultra runners, who completed the entire 100 km course by themselves.

The top team were the Kings of Salem of Coquitlam, B.C., who completed the course in five hours, 28 minutes and 45 seconds. Island Runners Too of Mission were second in 5:33:12, followed by Yaletown Walk and Run of Vancouver in 5:33:12.

Four Whistler teams took part this year.

The Globe Plodders finished in 45 th place overall and fourth out of 34 teams in the Open Mixed category with a time of 7:31:14. The Globe Plodders are Brandi Higgins, Marie-Anne Prevost, Paul Suter, Daniel Havens, Scott Young, Jen Keefer, Brenda Flann, and Kevin Hellier.

They were followed closed by Got the Trotts, who were 47 th overall and fifth in the Open Mixed group with a time of 7:33:22. Got the Trotts were Bob Deeks, Tracey Pope, David Higgins, Marilyn Hellier, Paul Nicholas, Christine Suter, Greg Sandkuhl, and Maureen McCormick.

Scrambled Legs were 84 th overall, and fifth out of 26 teams in the Corporate Mixed category with a time of 8:02:00. Sponsored by Whistler Running Experience, Scrambled Legs were Julie Cummings, Scott Whelan, Greg McDonnell, Stu Carmicheal, Duncan Munro, Karen Davies, Emile Estevez, and Shelly Estevez.

Georgie’s Running Angels were 244 th overall and 100 th in the Recreational Team category with a time of 9:09:55. The Angels were Sue Allen, Georgina Titus, John Hall, Diane Duggan, Connie Sobchak, Anna Sinclair, Joan Schuppli, and Janet Penny.

In addition, a number of Whistler runners participated with teams from the Lower Mainland. Kevin Titus and Sean Wolfe competed for the Lions Gate Road Runners, finishing second in the men’s master category and eighth overall with a time of 6:17:29. Titus ran the first two legs, winning the first leg and coming third in the second stretch. Wolfe was second in the 7 th stretch.
