The Whistler Gymnastics Club is taking part in National Gymnastics Awareness week, Feb 7-14, joining hundreds of clubs across Canada that are celebrating the sport with shows and demonstrations.

The Whistler club will be having ribbon days from Feb. 9 to 13. Friends and family members of gymnasts are welcome to come out and watch them perform skills and routines, and get creative with the sport.

The week will end with a Sea to Sky ribbon day, with the Classic and Acronaut recreational classes joining the competitive and Interclub programs. Clubs form Pemberton and Squamish will also take part.

"The benefits of gymnastics are strength, flexibility, co-ordination, self-esteem and self-confidence, which are life-long skills and the foundation for all kinds of other sports," said Whistler-Blackcomb program director Tami Ross. "This week is a chance to show everyone what we’ve learned, and have some fun."
