$299 – The cost of a seasons pass for the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, up $50 from last year.
$249 – The cost of a seasons pass for the Bike Park for people who already hold 2003-04 seasons passes, single mountain passes, spirit passes, midweek passes, 15-day passes, graduate passes and Whistler Kids passes.
2,200 feet – The number of vertical feet added to the Whistler Mountain Bike Park this year with the expansion upwards into the Garbanzo Zone. The total vertical is now 3,400 feet – enough to boil the oil in your hydraulic brakes. Downhill rides are expected to be more than 20 minutes long. There will be three trails open on June 26 (weather permitting) and more trails will be added over the summer.
May 1 – The official opening day for the bike park, weather permitting. Trails will be opened gradually as the snow continues to melt and conditions improve.
April 24 – The date of WORCA’s annual Bike Swap, which will be held in Creekside from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $2 to sell your bike at the swap, plus 15 per cent of the sale price from bikes under $1,000 and 10 per cent for bikes over $1,000. The proceeds from the event will go towards WORCA’s youth programs, including instruction programs and summer dirt camps. Last year’s event raised $3,500.
