Another mailbox B&E reported

The Pemberton/Whistler RCMP are investigating two break and enters to local mailboxes in the last few weeks.

The first incident took place on the 6100 block of Eagle Ride Crescent on April 4. The suspect broke into all 75 mailboxes and used the ID obtained in one of those boxes to impersonate one of the victims and gain access to more of his mail.

The suspect is described as a thin Caucasian male, approximately 5’7" and 160 pounds with blue eyes, a shaved head and a goatee. Several other attempts at fraudulent activity were made with the mail that was taken, but were unsuccessful.

The second incident occurred at Black Tusk Village, where parcels were broken into.

The investigation into both events is ongoing, and the RCMP says they are possibly related.

The Whistler/Pemberton RCMP remind people not to leave their mail for too long and to pick it up daily if possible.

If anyone knows anything about either incident, contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044.

Police investigate graffiti

The Whistler RCMP are looking into an increase in graffiti around the perimeter of Myrtle Philip school and the Whistler Golf Club.

While graffiti is an ongoing problem in Whistler, this is the first time in three years that incidents have been reported in connection with the school.

The municipality does allow graffiti in the Whistler skatepark.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 604-932-1150.

Big air poacher still under investigation

Police are still investigating an incident that occurred during the Ripzone Big Air in the village last Saturday. A 32-year-old male from New York poached the jump, coming up short on the transition and crashing onto the table. He was assisted at the scene before being taken away by the RCMP.

The RCMP has not determined yet if the individual will be charged with an offence.

Judging by his face, he may have been punished enough.

Extra RCMP members on patrol this weekend

The Whistler/Pemberton detachment will be boosted by members from the Lower Mainland this weekend for the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival, especially during the free Black Eye Peas concert on Friday and the World Skiing Invitational big air event on Saturday.

There will be municipal fines for drinking in public of $100. The RCMP are not expecting problems, but say they will be prepared if anything arises.
