Whistler’s Dave Burch won the first Loonie Race of the season on May 6,

Whistler’s Dave Burch won the first Loonie Race of the season on May 6, which was hosted by WORCA and the Riverside Junction Café and took place on a network of Lost Lake trails.

Burch crossed the finish line in 25 minutes and 11 seconds.

"I wanted this one," said Burch. "I needed it. I didn’t win a single race last season.

The top woman was Angela Teng, who dominated last season. She crossed the finish line in 32:10.

The top junior male was Tyler Allison and the top junior girl Savanna Lavoie.

The Cheakamus Challenge Fall Classic Mountain Bike Race on Sept. 25 is also now open for registration at www.cheakamuschallenge.ca. The earlier you sign up the more training time you’ll have to get ready.
