Who: Elizabeth M. Wiltzen

Where: The Gallery Chateau Whistler

When: Artist reception Saturday, Aug. 14, 6-9 p.m. Exhibit remains on display for one week following.

With sister galleries in Jasper and Banff and several Alberta artists on its roster, the Gallery Chateau Whistler has become Whistler’s window to the Rocky Mountains.

Starting tomorrow the dramatic beauty of Banff National Park will take centre stage through a special exhibit of works by Banff-based painter Elizabeth M. Wiltzen.

An avid hiker, mountaineer and ski-touring aficionado, Wiltzen often paints on location, carting materials to remote areas and recreating what is in front of her.

The self-taught artist also works out of her Banff-based studio. Established and respected for her watercolour creations, Wiltzen has recently added oils to her palate as well.

Wiltzen will be in attendance at the exhibit’s reception in the gallery tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 14,) from 6 to 9 p.m. The Gallery will showcase her work until the following weekend. A slideshow featuring images of Wiltzen working and the landscapes that inspire her will run during the reception and throughout the week.
