The Tea Party play Garf’s on Sunday night

Who: The Tea Party

Where: Garfinkel’s

When: Sunday, Aug. 28

Tickets: $25 at the door

Enigmatic Canadian rock trio The Tea Party will play a show at Garfinkel’s this Sunday evening.

The band is touring in support of new album Seven Circles which was released on Aug. 17.

The band’s sound is often compared to Kashmir-era Led Zeppelin for its lush, intriguing arrangements. They have also experimented with industrial electronica.

The intriguing trio recently showed up as former Creed frontman Scott Stapp’s backup band on a song Stapp recorded for a compilation of music inspired by Mel Gibson’s graphic crucifixion saga The Passion of the Christ.

Sunday’s show will feature opening sets by Ontario band The Years and Whistler locals The Crowley Band.

Tickets are $25, available only at the door. Doors open at 9 p.m.

For more information on the show call the club at 604-932-2323.

DJ Dan is out; Freaky Flow is in

House music fans anticipating DJ Dan’s upcoming visit will be disappointed to hear that the show has been canceled.

Drum ’n’ bass fans, however, will be happy to hear that one of their favourites, Toronto DJ Freaky Flow, has added a Whistler club date to his intense tour schedule.

The DJ has a new CD out titled Flashback.

Freaky Flow will take to the decks at Garfinkel’s on Tuesday, Aug. 31. The event is a special presentation of Jungle ’n’ Breaks night.

JnB residents Jungle Souldier and Plastic Surgeon will warm up the room. Tickets are $5 at the door before 11 p.m., more afterwards.

Truth be Told shooting music video at Dusty’s

Local punk/hardcore band Truth Be Told will be shooting crowd scenes and performance footage for a music video for their song Seize the Day at Dusty’s this Saturday night (Aug. 28.)

The band will also be debuting some unreleased tracks at the show.

The event is being presented by Solartribe, a local dance party crew known for outdoor full moon shindigs.

Proceeds from the $5 cover charge will be donated to Emily Carroll, a local partygoer mauled by a dog at the last outdoor event.

Another Solartribe benefit event at the GLC last weekend raised $450 for Carroll. The dog has since been put down.
