What: 11 th Annual West Side Wheel Up

Where: West Side trials, starting Function Junction

When: Saturday, Sept. 18

After being cancelled last season due to the backcountry fire restrictions, the West Side Wheel Up mountain bike race (or ride) is back. Sign-up starts at 10:30 a.m. at the entrance to Function Junction, and the race gets underway at noon. The cost is $20, which includes the race, food and refreshments, and the chance to win draw prizes (including a Whistler-Blackcomb season’s pass). All proceeds go to the B.C. Disabled Ski Team.

What: Sea2Summit Adventure Race

Where: Squamish to Whistler

When: Sept. 18-19

This two-day adventure race includes sea kayaking, mountain biking, orienteering, trekking and a variety of other challenges. You get to sleep in your own bed between the two days of competition, but how much sleep you get depends on how quickly you can wrap up day one. What: Sugoi Dirt Series Camp

Where: Whistler

When: Sept. 18-19

Nesters Market is sponsoring this two-day mountain biking skills camp, which is open for all adults of all ages and abilities, men and women. Over two days participants will learn new skills with fully certified instructors, then apply those skills to local trails and the even the mountain bike park. Camp includes lunches from Nesters, a Sleeman’s Social on Saturday, Sugoi prizes and more. The cost is $19. For more information call 604-905-8876 or e-mail info@dirtseries.com.

What: Terry Fox Run

Where: Riverside RV Park and Campground

When: Sunday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m.

Walk or run the 5 km or 10 km loops in the 23 rd annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. Whether you do it for friends and family, or you do it for fun, just be sure and do it. Pledge forms are available online, and you can register in advance and make a donation at the Riverside Campground starting at 9 a.m.

What: Cheakamus Challenge Fall Classic

Where: Squamish to Whistler

When: Saturday, Sept. 25

The 20 th annual Cheakamus Challenge will be a little different than past years with the addition of the Far Side and Tunnel Vision to the route. The race is now 72.5 kilometres in length with more than 2,200 vertical metres of climbing and more singletrack than ever before.
