In last week’s feature story, After the gold rush: 10 years of peaks and valleys, an explanation about triple net commercial leases included the statement that "For many businesses in Whistler, the lessor is Whistler-Blackcomb." In fact the only building in Whistler that Whistler-Blackcomb leases to a third party is Monk’s Grill. All other commercial properties that Whistler-Blackcomb owns are leased by Whistler-Blackcomb businesses. Earlier this year Intrawest, Whistler-Blackcomb’s parent company, sold 80 per cent of its interest in the Franz’s Trail commercial property at Creekside to CNL, a Florida property management company. Intrawest retains a 20 per cent interest in Franz’s Trail through CNL.
