Whistler Gymnasts in the ribbons

The Whistler Gymnastics Club returned home from their first Zone 5 meet on Bowen Island last weekend with a nice collection of medals and ribbons.

It was open to pre-competitive gymnasts and was the first organized competition for most of the Whistler athletes.

All of the Zone clubs participated except for one, taking part in vault and beam exercises at the small gym.

Taylor Kelly was eighth on the vault and second on beam to finish seventh all around in her category.

Emily Cankovic posted the same results in her category, and finished sixth all around with slightly higher scores.

Meg Halliwell was 10 th on vault, fifth on beam and 10 th all around.

Tyece Fairweather was ninth on vault, third on beam and 9 th all around

Victoria Jazic was eighth on vault, second on beam and eighth all around.

Winter registration open

Whistler Gymnastics is accepting registrations from for its winter session, as well as new registrations where space is available.

The club is also starting a Rhythmic Gymnastics program in the New Year, coached by former national team member Jody Winstanley.

Whistler Gymnastics coach Tami Ross is also hosting an Adult Acrosport program for residents 18 and older that want to improve fitness, core strength, balance and flexibility. The program is open to men and women and includes elements of gymnastics, trampoline, dance and aerobics. The course will run for 10 weeks, with dates and times to be announced.
