Are you a local resident and have friends or relatives visiting from the Lower Mainland or the Sunshine Coast? Would you like to borrow books, DVDs, videos, CDs, or magazines during the holidays?
If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, let me tell you about InterLINK. First of all, InterLINK is not to be confused with interlibrary loan, even though the names are similar. An interlibrary loan is a request for a book that we place on your behalf and the book is borrowed from another library in the province and comes to us via Canada Post or with our InterLINK weekly shipment.
InterLINK on the other hand is a partnership of 17 public libraries in southwestern British Columbia, including the Whistler Public Library. This partnership means that library service is not limited to where you live. You have free access to library service when and where you need it. Wherever you are shopping, working, studying or visiting you can use an InterLINK member library at no charge.
In order to join an InterLINK library you must live in a community served by InterLINK or have a valid library card at any InterLINK library. You may borrow materials from and return to any InterLINK member library before the date due. This means you have access to millions of books, information services and materials, newspapers and magazines, videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, Internet access, public computers and more.
Whistler residents can join any of the following libraries free of charge and return borrowed materials to the Whistler Public Library:
Bowen Island
Burnaby
Coquitlam
Fraser Valley
Gibsons and District
New Westminster
North Vancouver City
North Vancouver District
Pemberton and District
Port Moody
Richmond
Sechelt
Squamish
Surrey
Vancouver
West Vancouver
If you are not eligible for membership through InterLINK, you can still borrow materials from the Whistler Public Library. If you are a property owner, just bring in proof of your ownership (your municipal tax bill would suffice) and identification with your photo and current home address. We can sign you up free of charge.
If you are just visiting Whistler for a week or so, you can take out a visitors’ membership. For a $20 refundable deposit and a $5 administrative charge, you can borrow three items from our collections.
If you are planning on staying in Whistler for more than 1 month and are an avid reader, you can take out a Non-Resident membership. For an annual fee of $30, you can borrow up to 20 items at a time.

Holiday Hours:
