Kings and queens of the rail

The second King of the Rail contest of the season got underway under the lights on Saturday night, Jan. 8, with another strong turnout of riders and skiers.

The female riders were a force to be reckoned with in this contest, with skiers and snowboarders finishing in the top-three when all the votes were tallied.

In the snowboard category, Jamie Vang got the most votes, followed by Sarah Dollar and Max Ripper, the previous week’s winner.

Marc Abott was the top skier, followed by Erika Finnsson and Darren White. Oscar Kirkwood won the top draw prize, an Atomic snowboard.

The King of the Rail series, which takes place as part of Night Moves under the lights on Blackcomb, will continue on Saturday, Jan. 29.

The format will be the same, with competitors voting for the skiers and riders they think should win. The cost is $2 to enter with a Night Moves pass, and registration begins in the Blackcomb Daylodge at 4:30 p.m.
